Souza's Shrike at last!

We have been looking for this bird for quite some time... they have a very restricted range in southern Africa, confined to the extreme north of Namibia in the Caprivi strip where they are unobstrusive and uncommon. The birds were found in degraded woodland next to a village in January 2013 - less than 500m from where we searched for them in October 2012 when we concentrated on the more wooded unspoilt adjacent habitat! An adult male, female and 2 juvenile Souza's Shrikes Lanius souzae were recorded and photographed. And it was a southern African lifer for both of us! Click the link to view them in the Gallery.
